Final Assignment

Your last assignment of the year is to determine your 4th quarter grade and write a portion of your end-of-year math comment. You have seen plenty of comments during your career at Lakeside. Write personally (in first person), incisively, and accurately. Whatever you write is fine (serious, humorous, or prosaic, and will be used - verbatim - in your final year comment.

Here is the template I tend to use:

"The final quarter in Intensive Calculus consisted of a significant review in preparation for our cumulative final exam (April 26nd – 28th) and the AP Calculus exam (May 5th). After the AP exam students attempted to stay mathematically productive by working on a couple of projects: (1) a small group exploration of a complex disease testing scenario and (2) analysis of an economics concept called the GINI index.

Each year I ask my seniors to reflect on their fourth quarter work and their experience over the year. Here is what << BILLY >> chose to say:

<< BILLY’s COMMENT ~100 WORDS >>

<< KRESSER META-COMMENT >>

QUARTER GRADE: _______ "

GINI Research - TAK

I did my CDF and Gini analysis on the number of edits to a Wikipedia page - specifically the page on Gini Index.   For example, the CDF above shows that 60% of the editors made approximately 30% of the edits.   Sylvia and Emily computed my GINI to be around .34.

This isn't all that interesting, but potential for interesting analysis exists.  Some of this analysis has already been done, and is clearly explained by this guy.
